The 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, one of my primary teachers, considered to be one of the most Realized of the Tibetan Buddhist Masters, and one of the first to travel to and teach in the West.
AS I SIT AT THE FEET OF THE MASTERS As I sit at the feet of the masters, Coursing along consciously with the Great ones who have practiced And achieved high states of illumination— Then the light radiating from them Opens and illuminates my own mind, Banishing confusion, despair and lostness Bringing me into the sanctuary of the present— Just one moment at their lotus feet Is enough to crack the egg Of my own higher consciousness And spark the flames of My own deep longing for the Divine And remind me, again and again, Not to waste even a moment of this Precious lifetime chasing lower desires— But to boldly tread the path, following In their footsteps, steadied, encouraged and Inspired by their example, while being guided By their wisdom and unconditional Love.
