“At Robert Frost’s Derry Farm” and “Wit and Wisdom of Robert Frost”
TRANSFORMATIONAL POETRY for the SPIRITUAL SOUL

JOURNEY OF THE HEART Section # 58
At Robert Frost’s Derry Farm We arrived too late To see inside the house But the fields, And sky and forests Are always open. Here is a little Spring pond pool So smooth and still It reflects overhanging trees. Here is a path Winding far back From the now Busy road. Much has changed Since those long ago years, And yet much Remains the same. Any place that has Been greatly loved as this, Retains that quality Of growing love— Nothing can take It away. I feel such love, Radiant and peaceful, As we walk this land At the end of day— Reminded lovingly of The poet now gone, But whose essence Still remains— Even in this world of Tumult and change, His words come gently to mind “I had a lovers quarrel with the world.” August 23, 1990 Derry, New Hampshire
Wit and Wisdom of Robert Frost Some of my favorites “ Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee, And I’ll forgive Thy great big joke on me.” “Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired.” “Freedom lies in being bold.” “The best way out is always through.” “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.” “Happiness makes up in height for what it lacks in length.” “The figure a poem makes. It begins in delight and ends in wisdom…in a clarification of life…not necessarily a great clarification…but a momentary stay against confusion.” “What we live by we die by.” “And were an epitaph to be my story I’d have a short one ready for my own. I would have written of me on stone: I had a lover’s quarrel with the world.”
