I have to admit it…it has been thrilling to see the unmistakeable signs of Spring finally breaking free from this long, harsh winter’s grip.
We had become so conditioned to be slogging through one storm after another of heavy rain and roaring winds that it seemed as if it would go on forever.
But now, we can feel a major shift is happening, which is gathering momentum and won’t be stopped even if there may yet be more storms ahead.
I have seen it snow in these mountains as late as May , but even if winter conditions do return, it will be only for a day or two.
The nights are still very cold, but clear with a brilliant moon illuminating the starry sky.
The past few mornings have dawned into blue sky warm days that are utterly delightful.
In our garden, anything that can make flowers is budding out and getting ready to blossom.
The days are heating up so much that its glorious to simply sit in the sun and celebrate this emerging change in seasons.
Today, I had to shed the coats, sweaters and thick undershirts that I have been wearing in layers all winter, as the day got progressively hotter.
This evening had that special feel of anticipation and promise of renewal and lush days ahead.

This winter was the harshest we have ever been through together.
This winter strained and tested us, individually and our relationship, on every level..especially when it was so cold and intense that we had to use my tiny house as our refuge and shelter from the storms.
We lived together in this 240 square foot tiny house for weeks in which most of the time it was unwise to go outside except when absolutely necessary.
We both got cabin fever, which was stressful and made us irritable, but we worked it out because we both recognized that we would be utterly miserable if we didn’t and so we found creative ways to make the best of it.
For example, for a while, I turned this house’s tiny bathroom into my writing studio by setting up a small folding table in the shower stall with my I pad on it , and using the closed toilet lid as a chair. It was cramped, but private and strangely comforting.
Many issues of this newsletter were created there, because I could close the door and work quietly while Ani slept in the living room.
We had to make it work because, though we have a 4,000 square foot meditation center, it is just too big, old and drafty.
It was built over a hundred years ago without any insulation in the floors, walls or attic, single glaze windows, 12 foot high ceilings throughout and huge open spaces.
Even with a hot fire kept burning night and day in our huge modern wood stove, it wasn’t enough to heat up the space.
You could be sitting next to the wood stove, with the front of your body so hot you would be sweating, while your back and neck would literally be freezing.
We had to abandon the building because Ani is now very sensitive to cold, after having a few close calls with hypothermia over the past two years.
My tiny house became our ultimate refuge because it was two propane furnaces that kept us reasonably warm no matter how much the storms, wind, rain and snow battered our world outside.

All this adversity has sparked major healings and breakthrough in our lives and our relationship…because we had to develop deeper and deeper communication, greater trust in ourselves and each other, and more patience to achieve the state of peaceful, loving harmony that we both need.
As a result, we are experiencing a revolutionary renaissance in our relationship, which is by far the most important shift emerging during this coming spring.
This harsh winter brought up deep seated issues and sources of conflict that caused us so much suffering, crisis and turmoil over all the years we have been together, issues which seemed so entrenched that it seemed hopeless we could ever work through them.

A very important principle to understand about ongoing real Love relationships is that the love flowing between you and your beloved will evolve, deepen and become more powerful as you both work on your relationship, and as it does, your love becomes a very potent healing and transformational force.
“Real love brings up everything unlike itself to be healed.”
Our love has now grown so big that it is dissolving our old wounds, resentments and negative emotional patterns.
We are having long heart to heart talks with an ever deepening ability to truly communicate…which we have wanted for a long time, but it seemed impossible for us to achieve.
We are learning, often through making mistakes, what works, what needs to be changed and how to set up new agreements and protocols so we can stay close, in communion, and in love with each other.
It is a truly amazing time for us.
This is going to be the best spring, best summer and best year of all our years together.
Though we have been through many years of conflict and hardship before, our growing love is becoming the dominant force which is dissolving the old issues and negative patterns at their source.
Yes, we did do so much inner work and stretching to connect and communicate to get here.
During those years, it seemed little or no change could possibly happen, that we’d have to separate because of intractable issues.
But, the key thing is—we didn’t give up.
We have always come back together, even after the wildest arguments, because real Love is at the core our relationship…and real Love will make a way through to an ever greater life of closeness and caring if you let Love do its work.
I have also been praying constantly for us and our relationship, and I know that, behind all the amazing good that is now blossoming between us, God has been steadily guiding and helping us to come to where we are now…closer and more in love than ever.
