After Taking A Prayer Bath and Dancing In Sweet Gentle Rain
It is the wee hours on the night here on Still Mountain.
I have just come back into my tiny house after a long prayer bath, in our special blue tub full to the brim with steaming hot water in its own room in our sprawling Meditation Center building.
On the way, I treated myself to communing with the divine while standing naked in the falling rain out in the dark yard, with my face upturned as cold raindrops fell all over my body.
I reveled in the blessings of those few moments, as I felt the rain to be God’s grace raining down on me, on this place and the world.
I am grateful for this sweet gentle rain that felt so invigorating against my skin and savor the experience.
It is amazing to me that we have had a week of this perfect rain after days of broiling sun during the heat wave the week before, which is a prelude of the coming summer.
I know I will miss the sound of rain falling against the roof, especially later when we are passing through the gauntlet of fire that each summer has been in recent years.
Knowing this makes the cool dampness in the air, the dark clouds overhead and this gentle rain all the more precious.
I love going to bed when a rain symphony is being played all around my little house and I can look out the window to see the wind making the branches of the oak tree dance in wild abandon.
I love waking up in the middle of the night to rain drumming furiously against the roof and the howling winds making this house rock back and forth and up and down on its wheels, like a ship at sea in stormy weather.

All of nature is celebrating
All of nature is in celebration for this time of abundant water and renewal.
Now, the memories of all the recents years of ever-increasing drought just seem like a bad dream or made-up story.
Of course, I personally would love it if we had wet winters and rainy spring days such as this year every year from now on.
The fact that we don’t know the future challenges or blessings makes this sweet rain all the more of a treasure. I know it could be the last rain before the heatwaves, and hot dry days of summer return.
Morning
I have just risen from my cloud like bed, after a night of sleeping with the sound of rain music on the roof. How sweet it is to wake up to hear the rain symphony still being played!
I am now in my seat in my tiny writing studio aboard our tiny house, with its view of the lush green fields that surround Still Mountain…in a state of peaceful contentment.
Peaceful Contentment and Being Serenely Happy In The Present Moment Is One of Results Of Developing Your Own Satisfying Personal Meditation Practice
Peaceful contentment is one of the benefits of maintaining a daily meditation and prayer practice.
This morning I am still feeling the results of the prayer bath that I had last night, in which I was lying in our big bathtub in hot water with the window open as it rained outside, singing to the divine, and focusing on becoming present.
One of the great things I do to take care of myself is daily periods of focused meditation and prayer…not because I “should”, but because I am very aware that I need to take time to tune my consciousness up to the highest level I can reach.
I know I can use my time any way that I want.
Time Is Our Most Important Non-Renewable Resource…
Every morning, as we start a new day of 24 hours, we are blessed with 86,400 precious moments delivered to our sand glass of time.
The older I get and the longer I have lived, the more I am choosing to use my time more and more wisely and invest it in activities which support spiritual growth and living in higher states of blissful consciousness.
My inner priorities now are to focus on what is truly important.
There are many things which I once regarded as important and even vital, that I no longer give time to because they are not on my purpose line.
I have become much more disciplined than ever because “at my back I always hear/Time’s winged chariot hurrying near” as Andrew Marvell sings in his wonderful poem “To His Coy Mistress”.
At this stage in life, I am clear that I have no time to waste.

Discipline and Conscious Self Control Is The Doorway to Inner Joy and Peaceful Contentment
But more than that, this surging inner joy and state of peaceful contentment is sourced from being aware and disciplined enough to be constantly pursuing fulfilling my purpose and the work I was sent here to do.
An undisciplined, unfocused and out of control mind will never be happy for long.
For me the greatest pleasure and source of satisfaction in life comes from keeping myself focused on the really important things and letting everything else go.
I have been a rebel for much of my life, thinking that doing whatever I wanted to do whenever I wanted to do it meant true freedom and would lead to happiness.
But, I have learned the hard way, that true freedom is the ability to consciously choose what is really important in life and then disciplining myself to give it every ounce of focus, time and perseverance needed to achieve it.
That makes me a winner, a warrior and a man making a difference with every treasured moment of my life.
