CLIMBING THROUGH THE DARK To My Secret Sanctuary Of Peace I climb the trail Under the fishtail sky, Scalloped clouds lit By a hidden moon, Long after night as fallen. I find my secret sanctuary For this nightly journey Of prayer and meditation, So necessary for my soul, Among these great clouds, After climbing through the night To the top of this mountain— Here, I deal peacefully With all of life, for As I climb I rise in Consciousness and open My mind and heart To attain a higher view Of seeing things As they are, Untinged by my own Fears, longings or Emotional colorings. On this mountain, I rise above my own Mind’s clouding confusions— Entering an inner sanctuary Where the Beloved and I Commune and laugh in joy As I slow down and linger long— Knowing I need never leave Even after I come down from This high and jagged mountain, Unless I become deceived By my own mind’s Tricky illusions, falling foolishly Into the snares Set for me By my own dark side— Until I wake up and start Climbing through the lonely Dark, step by step, Watching my breath and Praying to the divine For help and the power to Climb all the way back To the citadel of love, light And bliss which is ever shining On this high mountain peak. TAPPING THE INNER SPRING My eyes are laughing Like a slowly flowing stream Reflecting sunlight. Inside myself there is A crystal spring from which All this clear water flows. Everything I know and share Comes from that deep place— Conditioned only by the way I know and taste it, By how I receive What I create, By how I shape this Flow of creation with others, By how I open my heart To share and receive all the Love that is here for me— By how I use all this Life experience, both painful And pleasurable, to heal myself And become a force for Good and love and light In this hurting but beautiful world.
