Love, Serve and Awaken

As in so many lifetimes before,
I am seeking to attain union
With my heart’s sweet beloved,
While living in this thick body. 

As my life has progressed
Through so many years of experiences,
My yearning for living in the presence of 
My inner Lord only grows more intense.

Hearing the lives of the masters,
I am deeply inspired to focus all of 
My power on my own path,
Which is now clear for me to see.

For as long as there is breath
And a beating heart in this body,
I will sing and pray and meditate…
And I will follow the path of all those ones

Seeking realization before me to 
Simply Love, serve and awaken.

Taking A Stand

This world can be so harsh,
So cold, so hurtful and unloving—

It would be easy to sink
Beneath the waves of bad things
Surging around in the outer world
Which are broadcast on the news everyday,

But I have learned that if it
Tastes bad to spit it out,
If it feels bad, to push it away
Or if its full of hate to not let
It in to my heart and mind.

We must protect every little bit of goodness
In our lives, like a little seedling 
Which, if nurtured and cared for 
Can become a mighty tree 
Providing solace and shade for millions
Under its wide spreading branches.

All I have ever wanted is 
To be a pure vessel of all of this
Good growing inside my heart
And all the hearts of so many
Who are, like me, pummeled
By the dark things
Of this world.

Now I’ve come to understand
That in order for the good to prevail
Against the threatening evil
Rising up all around us—
That we must take a stand
And proclaim “this far
And no further will I allow
This to go or give any more energy
To this darkness trying to 
Smother the Light.”

So I take my stand for 
Now, for today, and for the 
Rest of my life as I hold
Out my hand to invite you to
Join with me on this mountain of
The great, the good and the bright
So that all around the world
An army of light warriors will
Come to join and stand with us
In proclaiming an end to all our
Suffering as we  rise up 
In clear, powerful, loving delight.

My Ocean Mother

The roaring of waves
Wash my mind
So long separated
From the sea.

Whenever I come back
To this great rolling
Ocean mother,
I ask myself again—

Why did I leave and 
Why did I let myself be
Swept along to living far away 
From the sound of crashing surf, 

And how can I bear being
Separated day after day, 
When my heart and soul declare
This alone is my true home?
