NOTHING CAN HAPPEN TO YOU THAT IS NOT POSITIVE It was my mentor who did the job for me. At a certain moment in his life the idea came to him of what he called 'the love of your fate.' Whatever your fate is, whatever the hell happens— you say, “This is what I need!” It may look like a wreck but go at it as though it were an opportunity, a challenge. If you bring love to that moment— not discouragement--you will find the strength you did not know you had is there Within you, ready to come out In times of need and terrible circumstance. Any disaster you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! This is when the spontaneity of your own nature will have a chance to flow. Then, when looking back at your life, you will see that the moments which seemed to be great failures followed by wreckage were the incidents that shaped the life you have now. You’ll see that this is really true. Nothing can happen to you that is not positive. Even though it looks and feels at the moment like a negative crisis, it is not. The crisis throws you back, and when you are required to exhibit strength, it comes. ~Joseph Campbell From His Book “Reflections on the Art of Living” This quote was the inspiration behind my story “Nothing Can Happen To You That Is Not Positive” which expands on this important attitude…you can read it here: Spiritual Soup Kitchen Section # 61

MAKE THEM SMILE
I learned that whenever
I decide something with an open heart,
I usually make the right decision.
I’ve learned that even when
I have pains, I don’t have to be one.
I’ve learned that I still
Have a lot to learn.
I’ve learned that people will
Forget what you said,
People will forget what you did,
But people will never forget
How you made them smile.

EVERY DAY IS THE BEST DAY
Write it on your heart
That every day is the best
Day of the year.
He is rich who owns the day,
And no one owns the day
Who allows it to be invaded
With fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities
No doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can,—
Tomorrow is a new day;
Begin it well and serenely,
With too high a spirit to be
Encumbered with your old nonsense.
The day is too dear,
With its hopes and invitations,
To waste a moment on yesterdays.
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
