It is a grey, cold morning here on Still Mountain after a night of low temperatures and dark clouds.
I am up and pushing to become fully awake and climb back up into my usual optimistic and grateful attitude through sipping espresso and finding the right words of the heart that are waiting to be expressed.
Every day here on Still Mountain is an adventure, for as we are always seeking to move up to higher ground and greater good.
I am more disciplined and focused on the truly important things than ever before because I am very aware that time is ticking by, second by second.
For me, now that I have already lived many years in this body of mine, I count every day, every hour and every minute as far too precious to waste.
I no longer have any interest in anything, however alluring it may be, that is off my purpose line.
No more tangents for me as I know this is it…today is the golden opportunity I was looking forward to and now is the time to bring my heart’s dreams and soul’s visions into reality.
Last week, we began working on our E 350 Dump truck to prepare it for putting back into service in our newly reactivated and limited clean ups service.
Ani is excellent and meticulous at anything she does.
She invested more than a day into washing the E350’s exterior and then taking everything out of its cab and giving it a thorough cleaning.
Now, it gleams and shines and looks and feels a thousand times better.
Before we started working on it, this little dump truck had sat, forlorn and untouched, all winter with a huge messy load in its cargo bay and its cab a chaotic jumble of tools, ropes, trash bags, and truck equipment.
We have long since learned that cleaning and clearing up spaces that have become messy and unconscious has a dramatic positive effect on those in the space.
“Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” as the old saying goes.
While Ani did her cleaning magic, I worked on the cargo bay bed and the dump mechanism.
I had never really took more than a cursory look at the dump machinery before, in all the years we have owned this truck, in the press of going here and there to get work done.
But now, I took the time to raise and lower the dump over and over as I looked for the source of a loud popping and creaking sound that I had ignored before.
It turned out that a critical part had not been greased so long that it was binding up, metal on metal.
Now, after carefully oiling it, the dump bed goes up and down smoothly and quietly.
I also cleaned the really cruddy reservoir tank and the hydraulic dump motor and discovered that we actually have an amazingly powerful and high quality dump mechanism, which is capable to lifting any load we put in the cargo bay.
We also began rebuilding the cargo bay itself by removing the old funky plywood sides, cleaning the metal frame and removing years worth of debris from corners and crevices.
Then, I gave it a thorough power washing so that it gleams from being so clean.
This week, I will be laying a new quality plywood deck and building new sides for the cargo bay.
We decided to raise the sides to give it a greater capacity and to create a new roll out load cover…all improvements that will make it much easier to use.
We are consciously embracing this Spring as a time for awakening and renewaL on all levels—
From the nitty gritty material plane (such as restoring this baby dump truck to pristine and practical use condition) to the highest spiritual levels we can reach through our daily prayer and meditation.
After the long harsh winter that was so hard to bear, its now time to move it up and thrive in this special time of sunny days and baby blue sky….
