SOARING DELIGHT
The lights come on as
The day bends to darkness
And the reluctant sun sinks silently
Behind the mountains to the west.
My heart is filled with a sweet sadness
So strong that I linger at the edge of
An ocean of tears, casting off to sail this
Night alone on the sea of grief.
It is far more profound than just
The passing of another day and
Its deeper than simple melancholy
For I know that every one of
These fleeting, passing hours and days
Is part of a descending arc towards
The ending of my days and separation
From all I have learned to love.
This journey must go on and on
As we now flow into a night sweet
With the singing of crickets in the grass
And bellowing of frogs in the dew.
I now know how to use every precious
Minute to its utmost in our higher good—
Aware of the Truth than even death
Is not the end, but a pause between lives
As we change from living in these dense bodies
To our true selves of radiant light spirits,
Joyously free to soar up to heaven for a time
Before returning to earth in new bodies
For our new lives of love and utter delight.
