“TAKE TIME TO SLOW DOWN and SMELL THE ROSES” and enjoy the beauty of life surrounding us in each precious moment!
WE ARE CELEBRATING THE COMING OF SPRING and the resurgence of life here on Still Mountain…
There are so many good things happening here on Still Mountain that it is hard to choose what to share with you first. Some of these things are big deals but most are small things that still make a huge difference for us.
Because Still Mountain has been a place of prayer and meditation for hundreds of seekers over the past 75 years, the power of our own spiritual practices is multiplied by the sacred energy here. We are grateful to have this sacred sanctuary to live and work and grow in.
Each day feels like a year because every day is packed with challenges, opportunities and experiences that we see as our daily dharma practice.
Today I want to give you a tour in pictures of Still Mountain, our Meditation Garden and some of the beautiful country that surrounds it in all directions….
Every part of the Meditation Garden is bursting with verdant new growth…and we are just beginning to mow the paths and weeds the flower beds
The Lotus Buddha floating in a sea of newly blossoming Iris
Two views into the Meditation Garden just inside the Moon Gate entrance
Our Buckeye on one side of the entrance porch to the Center and two blossoming Apple trees on the other which provide pools of cool shade during hot summer days
Three views of the Secret Pond that developed over the thirty years we have been here…it is completely hidden under the Honeysuckle Vines that cover all but one small area of open water where the fish come out to play in the sun. This pond has sustained countless generations of goldfish that have thrived here without any care from us since we released the original few rescued from an abandoned aquarium thirty years ago.
In the past two years, these Spineless Cactus plants have more than doubled in size since I have been visiting them and consciously bathing them in loving energy and generous watering daily. These plants are all from one small cutting that we got from the Luther Burbank Garden and planted here long ago. Luther Burbank was a saintly man in the early 1900’s who worked miracles in creating improved plants from potatoes to orchids…including this type of cactus that he developed that has no thorns at all….
