THE INNER LOVER IS THE MOST FAITHFUL
“The inner journey is the best,
The inner lover the most faithful…”
I have all the hours of the night
At my feet to seek my way to peaceful freedom—
They are mine to use as I wish
And so I fill this big blue tub
Full of steaming water to make a
Journey of prayer to my sanctuary within.
The greatest spiritual adventure
Will always happen inside me—
And I must search through the night
Until I find a way back into the
Real inner sanctum of the heart.
Friends and lovers, relationships of
Every kind, even with my closest beloveds,
Come and go on the winds of change—
My heart has endured countless distressful
Dramas of loss and painful separations.
But the inner Beloved
Is ever here for me, ever waiting,
Ever calling me with unconditional
Persistent and deathless love—
Always wanting me to become present and
Silent enough to feel the sweetness of
Our eternal divine relationship,
And hear the gentle whispering of
“The still small voice within” ever guiding,
Ever showing me the way home.
Chinmayan sings:
“The inner journey is the best,
The inner lover the most faithful
With all the Beloved’s virtues and graces—
Embracing this One is what
Makes my heart sing!”
