Flying “Star Guider” All Night (On Tour with our 40 ft motorhome bus conversion “Star Guider”) Flying our ship “Star Guider” all night, Straight through dawn Into this crystal morning, Over a hundred miles Of curving canyons And mountain river roads. I enter into a space Of power that is Accessible only when the Danger of immanent death Lurks over the edge of a cliff On a misjudged curve, Or the failure of the brakes On the long downhill grades, And as I struggle To keep this ship within Her limits while still making headway, I am pushed beyond my usual abilities Into a state of concentration so pure That my vision expands beyond just The details of the road, The gauges, the howl of the engine, The swing of the ship, The precise application of the brake And the correct amount Of free fall in the straights, So that, as I pilot This ship that seems to fly, I myself do soar Up to where only God And I exist until Even “I” disappears And it is God alone Who guides the steering wheel. Childlike Spirits As our children play Around the circle of fire Containing leaping yellow flames Which brighten against The gathering dark, I watch the joy And secret knowledge Known only to children And the childlike in spirit, Reflected in their happy faces, Beaming in their Clear unworried voices. It is not an endless evening, Nor an infinite time, Such as I would like it to be— Yet magical moments Become memory treasures As we continue Our journey around The circle of life. I know these laughing children Will grow up and have the dilemmas Of adults settle on their shoulders And have the pains, challenges And disappointments, just as I have had, yet I trust And intend that they Will be better prepared Than I, better equipped to Cross through the stages ahead By times spent together Like these in which They are surrounded In supportive love For who they are And allowed to truly be Themselves, now and Forever radiantly happy And free. “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.
Your task is not to seek for Love, but to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
