WHEN I SEE WHO I REALLY AM
I AM MOVED TO TEARS AND
BOW TO MY OWN HIGHER SELF
I have risen early from restless dreams
To consciously make a way upwards
Into this new day.
As I begin to
Work outside, my own sweet energy
Begins to flow and I wake up to
Remembering who I really am,
Separate from anyone.
As I read
Through journals of poetry created many
Years ago, I am inspired by my own
Words and bow at my own feet in
Reverent delight to clearly see
How diligently this one has always
Sought to know, love and serve
The Divine in all I have done—
I am charmed by these
Younger versions of myself
Who lived with mind and soul
Focused on God, who believed in
Himself, who used even the most painful
Experiences as vital training on
This Dharma path—
Who sang so
Many songs expressing my heart’s love
For the Lord with clarity, openness
And grace,
Who I now know can be
Fully trusted , even with all my many
Terrible mistakes, my mountains of
Faults and failings and all my
Heartbreaking loses—
To use pain as reason
To be driven to prayer by every challenging
Circumstance, to learn the lessons and
Seek my way to higher and higher ground,
To use it all then as now to rise
Up in consciousness into the liberating
Healing presence of my own
Indwelling Beloved’s pure Love.
