THE WONDROUS BEAUTY OF
THE MOST MUNDANE SITUATIONS

“The beauty and goodness of the world
That surrounds you everyday,
Wherever you go, whatever you do
Can only be revealed, seen and experienced
When you are at peace and in harmony
With the world within you…”

Living in this very present moment
No matter what I am doing
Reveals the wondrous beauty of
Even the most mundane situation—

Even here, at this landfill,
Crowded with so many waiting
In line to dump their junk and garbage
On a sunny Saturday morning.

I have come to understand that 
It is the inner view that determines
The quality of all that I see and experience,
Not the other way around as most believe.

It is where I come from into life,
My thoughts, feelings and attitudes
That color and shape my own reality—
And knowing this truth is liberating

For though I cannot control the outer world,
My inner world is mine to create…
And so, even here, among the noisy trucks
And hurrying harried people

I am amazed and delighted to see
Rainbows arching across the sky and 
Seagulls wheeling in silent symphonies
And feel a cooling breeze kissing my cheek

On this ordinary day at the dump when 
I am at peace within myself and in
Alignment with all living beings in the world
And seeing the wondrous beauty of
Even this most mundane of situations.
